Ignatius of Antioch: 35AD -108 AD
Saint Ignatius of Antioch, also known as Ignatius Theophorus, was an early Christian writer and the third bishop of Antioch. Born around 35 AD in Syria, he is believed to have been a disciple of the Apostle John. Ignatius is most renowned for his influential letters written while en route to his martyrdom in Rome around 108 AD. These letters provide profound insights into early Christian theology, church structure, and the importance of unity and sacraments. Ignatius was martyred by being thrown to the lions in the Roman Colosseum, viewing his death as a means to unite fully with Christ. His legacy endures as a testament to his unwavering faith and leadership in the early Christian Church.

Discipleship of the Apostle John:
Ignatius is believed to have been a disciple of the Apostle John, which profoundly influenced his theological understanding and his role as a leader in the early Church.
Bishop of Antioch:
