🏛️ Men of Consequence: Past

D.L. Moody 1837-1899
Dwight Lyman Moody, commonly known as D.L. Moody, was a powerhouse American evangelist and publisher in the 19th century. Born on February 5, 1837, in Northfield, Massachusetts, he rose from humble beginnings to become a significant figure in Christian ministry. Moody founded several enduring institutions, including the Moody Church, Northfield School, Mount Hermon School (now Northfield Mount Hermon School), Moody Bible Institute, and Moody Publishers.
His journey into ministry began after a transformative conversion to evangelical Christianity in 1855. Moody left a successful career in the shoe business to dedicate himself to revivalism. He worked with Union troops during the Civil War through the YMCA and the United States Christian Commission. In Chicago, he established a major evangelical center that remains active today. Partnering with singer Ira Sankey, Moody conducted evangelistic tours across the United States and the British Isles, drawing massive crowds with his dynamic preaching style.
Moody was a visionary leader, always ahead of the curve. He trained women, reached out to lost children, and bridged denominational divides, showcasing his innovative approach to ministry. He had a knack for identifying capable, godly individuals to lead, allowing his ministries to flourish even as he continued his evangelistic outreach.
Throughout his life, Moody remained devoted to his family, making every effort to show his love and care for them. He passed away on December 22, 1899, surrounded by his family.
In summary, D.L. Moody was a trailblazing evangelist whose influence continues to resonate through the institutions he established and the countless lives he touched.
📢Here are five notable facts about D.L. Moody:
Started a Sunday School in the Slums
Before becoming a renowned evangelist, Moody started a Sunday school in the slums of Chicago that catered to underprivileged children. His focus on reaching those often overlooked by society set the foundation for his ministry’s outreach efforts.Humble Education
Moody had little formal education and was known to struggle with grammar and public speaking early on. Despite this, his authenticity, passion, and reliance on the Holy Spirit captivated audiences, proving that charisma and conviction could overcome formal deficiencies.Turned a Disaster into Opportunity
After the Great Chicago Fire of 1871 destroyed his church and home, Moody saw the tragedy as an opportunity to rebuild his ministry on a larger scale. This led to the construction of the Moody Church and the eventual founding of the Moody Bible Institute.Introduced Modern Music to Evangelism
Partnering with Ira D. Sankey, Moody was one of the first evangelists to heavily incorporate music into his ministry. Sankey's hymns became a hallmark of their meetings and helped popularize gospel music, setting a precedent for modern evangelistic crusades.Refused Ordination
Although widely respected in the Christian community, Moody declined formal ordination. He believed that his calling did not require ecclesiastical credentials and focused instead on practical, lay ministry, empowering other non-clergy individuals to step into ministry roles.
These facts highlight Moody’s innovative and determined spirit in spreading the gospel.

👨🏻👩👧👦 How To Keep Your Marriage Vibrant
The key is creating novel experiences that spark conversation, build trust, and deepen your connection. Here are some detailed approaches:
Weekly Adventure Dates:
Replace standard dinner dates with interactive experiences like wine tastings, or local food tours
Take turns planning surprise activities for each other, with the only rule being it must be something new
Explore outdoor adventures together - hiking new trails or other outdoor activities.
Try "tourist mode" in your own city by visiting museums, historical sites, or attractions you've never seen
Skill-Building Together:
Sign up for couples' cooking classes to master new cuisines
Learn a language together using apps and practice speaking it during dinner
Take dance lessons - from salsa to country - which builds trust and physical connection
Start a creative project like photography or painting, where you can learn and grow together
Physical Challenges:
Train for a 5K or cycling event together
Try rock climbing as partners
Set joint fitness goals and be each other's accountability partners
Take on home improvement projects that require teamwork
Cultural Exploration:
Pick a different country each month to explore through food, movies, and music
Attend cultural festivals and events in your area
Learn about each other's family traditions and heritage
Create themed date nights around different time periods or cultures
Intellectual Growth:
Join a book club together or start your own two-person club
Attend lectures or workshops on topics that interest you both
Take online courses together in subjects you're curious about
Have deep discussions about what you're learning
The key is to approach these experiences with curiosity, focusing on the journey rather than mastery. These shared challenges and discoveries create new conversation topics, inside jokes, and memories that strengthen your bond. They also help you see new sides of each other, which keeps the relationship fresh and exciting.

Breaking the Silence: A Man's Guide to Mental Wellness
The landscape of men's mental health is changing, yet many men still suffer in silence. Recent studies show that while 1 in 10 men experience anxiety or depression daily, less than half seek help. This silence isn't just uncomfortable – it's dangerous. Men are 3.5 times more likely to die by suicide than women, making mental health awareness not just important, but crucial for survival.
Today's man faces unprecedented challenges: balancing career demands with family life, navigating changing social expectations, and managing financial pressures – all while maintaining physical and mental wellness. The traditional "tough it out" approach isn't just outdated; it's harmful. Modern masculinity embraces emotional intelligence alongside strength, understanding that true resilience comes from acknowledging and addressing our mental health needs.
Our guide breaks down practical, actionable steps for mental wellness that fit into your busy life. Whether you're a CEO, a new father, or both, these strategies are designed to work with your schedule, not against it. From quick stress-busting techniques you can use between meetings to longer-term lifestyle changes that build lasting resilience, we've got you covered.

The AI Adoption Imperative: A Business Survival Guide
The business landscape is experiencing a fundamental shift comparable to the early days of the internet. Companies that viewed websites as optional in the late 1990s quickly found themselves at a severe competitive disadvantage. Today, we're seeing a similar pattern with AI adoption, but the transformation is happening at an even faster pace.
Why Late Adopters Will Struggle:
Operational Efficiency Gap
Early AI adopters are already reducing operational costs by 15-40%
Automated processes are handling routine tasks with greater accuracy
Competitors are scaling operations without proportional cost increases
Resource allocation is becoming more data-driven and precise
Manual processes will become competitively unsustainable
Customer Experience Revolution
AI-powered personalization is becoming the expected norm
Real-time customer service through AI is setting new standards
Predictive analytics are helping companies anticipate customer needs
Customer data insights are becoming deeper and more actionable
Traditional service models will feel outdated and insufficient
Market Intelligence Disadvantage
AI adopters are gaining real-time market insights
Predictive trend analysis is informing strategic decisions
Competitive intelligence is becoming more sophisticated
Data-driven decision making is reducing risk
Manual market analysis will be too slow and limited
Workforce Evolution
AI-augmented employees are becoming more productive
Training and development are becoming more targeted
Talent is being attracted to AI-forward companies
New roles and skills are emerging rapidly
Traditional workflows will become obsolete
Innovation Capacity
AI is accelerating product development cycles
Research and development is becoming more efficient
New business models are emerging through AI insights
Creative processes are being enhanced by AI
Traditional innovation methods will struggle to compete
The 2-Year Critical Window: The next 24 months represent a critical adoption period because:
AI technology is becoming more accessible and affordable
Integration tools are maturing rapidly
Best practices are being established
Talent pools are developing
Early adopters are already gaining competitive advantages
Action Steps for Companies:
Start with an AI readiness assessment
Identify high-impact, low-complexity implementation areas
Develop an AI training program for staff
Create a phased adoption timeline
Build partnerships with AI solution providers
Financial Impact: Companies that delay adoption may face:
Higher customer acquisition costs
Increased operational expenses
Lower profit margins
Reduced market share
Difficulty attracting investment
Remember: The goal isn't to adopt AI for its own sake, but to strategically implement it to enhance core business capabilities and maintain competitive advantage. The cost of inaction during this critical period could be substantially higher than the investment required for adoption.
This isn't just about keeping up – it's about remaining relevant in a rapidly evolving business landscape where AI capabilities are becoming fundamental to business operations rather than optional enhancements.

WEEKLY REMINDER: Quick overview of BOI (Beneficial Ownership Information) compliance and how to avoid a $500 a day fine after January 1st, 2025
BOI Compliance Overview:
The Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) reporting requirement, issued by the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), mandates that certain U.S.-based businesses must disclose information about individuals who have significant control or ownership stakes in the company. The goal is to improve transparency, reduce financial crimes, and prevent the misuse of shell companies. The deadline is approaching to file before steep fines are applied.
Taking Action: Men of Consequence member David Pittiglio who owns Streamlined Business Solutions, a nationwide bookkeeping firm and I (Alex Mont-Ros) have launched BOI Compliance Solutions, helping many business owners by providing an easy, inexpensive option to file and stay compliant.
