John Knox (1514–1572)
John Knox (1514–1572) – Scottish Reformer. Preacher of Fire. Unyielding Voice of Gospel Conviction.
John Knox was a former Catholic priest turned bold Protestant reformer whose influence forever altered the spiritual trajectory of Scotland. Fierce in conviction and unwavering in his fear of God alone, Knox stood toe-to-toe with monarchs, most famously Queen Mary of Scots, and preached the unfiltered gospel in a time of violent religious upheaval.
Knox’s transformation began through exposure to Reformation theology and personal repentance. After a season of enslavement as a galley rower, he returned to Scotland with fire in his soul. He believed the church must return to the authority of Scripture, and that no earthly power, not crown, clergy, or tradition, could overrule the lordship of Christ.
